Fernbank Science Center, GA

The Fernbank Science Center is an Atlanta-based museum, school, and woodland complex. The DeKalb County School System owns and operates the institution, which revealed in May 2012 that it was considering closing it to save money, but soon canceled the proposal after public protest. The Fernbank Museum of Natural History, which is located nearby, is a private non-profit organization that is not affiliated with the Science Center.

On Tuesday mornings, enjoy safe, enjoyable, and cheap activities especially for children ages 5 and younger (when Fernbank typically has fewer visitors to help keep you safe). For a fast-paced, casual visit, we recommend that guests allow at least 1 1/2 hours. Allow slightly under an hour for the IMAX experience, plus time for the museum.
