Learn More About Fernbank Science Center, GA

The Fernbank Science Center is an Atlanta-based museum, school, and woodland complex. The DeKalb County School System owns and operates the institution, which revealed in May 2012 that it was considering closing it to save money, but soon canceled the proposal after public protest. Is it permissible to carry food inside Fernbank Museum?

Is it permissible to bring food into the Fernbank Museum? While the Fernbank Cafe sells food and drinks, you are welcome to bring your own lunch for you and your family. Although food is not permitted in the exhibit galleries, it is permitted in the cafe, on museum seats, and on the terrace.

Is the Fernbank Museum suitable for children?

On Tuesday mornings, enjoy safe, enjoyable, and cheap activities especially for children ages 5 and younger (when Fernbank typically has fewer visitors to help keep you safe). This unique program includes free parking and all-day general admission. It also includes a special educator-led session at 11 a.m., a free toddler snack, and all-day general admission.

How long does the Fernbank Museum last?

For a fast-paced, casual visit, we recommend that guests allow at least 1 1/2 hours. Allow slightly under an hour for the IMAX experience, plus time for the museum. As others have pointed out, if you want to spend more time with the content, such as reading panels or watching videos, you should set aside more time.
