Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park is a 2,965-acre National Battlefield that preserves the Atlanta Campaign's Civil War battleground. From June 19 to July 2, 1864, opposing armies maneuvered and fought here. Kennesaw Mountain, though best known as a Civil War battleground, has a lot more interesting backstory.


Is Kennesaw Mountain accessible for free?

Entrance fees must be paid by all guests. Please be prepared to show your hard copy pass or your mobile device's digital pass if questioned. Except for Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day, the visitor center is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.


Is it still possible to drive up Kennesaw Mountain?

Visitors can drive to the top and climb one of the numerous routes or simply enjoy the breathtaking views. The route is blocked to private vehicles on Saturdays and Sundays, so tourists must use a shuttle bus or hike to the summit.
